This Morning’s Snow

Greetings Dear Reader,

I was awake before sunrise today and chose to drink my coffee on the porch.  It is a balmy 12 degrees so a jacket and boots were necessary.  The freaky cardinal was attacking the window at first light.  I could see where Cyros the skunk has made his way from the shed to the evergreens in search of food.  The squirrels were up early and chasing each other through the trees.

As I enjoyed my coffee and the relative quiet the sun broke over the trees.  My drive, yard, and field, all covered in a fresh layer of snow exploded into twinkling diamonds.  I am not a good enough photographer to capture the beauty.  It gave me a moment of true worship.  I was reminded of just how in awe I am of the beauty that is snow.  I pondered the moment when each flake crystallized into its unique form.  I considered how the wind and terrain had sculpted what lay before me.

In that moment I again felt the vastness of creation and the amazing power of the Creator.  This is why I have faith and follow.  This moment is where I see and feel that just like the snowflakes I am uniquely created.  This Creator is the one who loves me and wants all good things for me.  This is the one in whom “I live, and move, and have my being.”

This vast expanse of temporary art will pass.  The moment, however, served to remind me of the creativity of the God I follow.  It reminded me of his vast power and love.  I hope that I can do the same for others.

Wishing you joy in the journey,

Aramis Thorn
