This May Sound Silly – We live a Paradox

Greetings Dear Reader,

God is all knowing but asks us to live by faith.  There are mysteries that we cannot begin to understand but we are asked to live in those mysteries.  God allows evil in the world but hates it.  God gives us free will but asks us to bend it to his will.

We live a paradox.  We are to love our enemies.  We are to forgive those who despitefully use us.  We are to lead with humility.  Our riches are to be used to help the poor.  We live in a world that chases possessions but we do not truly own anything.

So how does that translate into everyday life?  I am to love my enemies.  I am to love everybody.  I am to follow in faith even when surrounded by apparent contradictions.  I am to respond to everything with love and faith.

We come by this from the example of Christ.  We think we have to live a paradox but look at the life of Christ honestly.  He has the power to eliminate from existence with a thought.  Instead he allows us to kill him so that he can redeem us.

Everything about our journey seems foolish.  What we do will always seem foolish to those who do not believe what we do.  We are to respond to the rejection by being good to them.  We are to help them and treat them love and respect.  We are to love them in ways that crush barriers and build bridges.  We are to do this even if they kill us for it.

God’s Own Fool – Michael Card

Seems I've imagined Him all of my life
As the wisest of all of mankind
But if God's Holy wisdom is foolish to man
He must have seemed out of His mind

Even His family said He was mad
And the priest said a demon's to blame
But, God in the form of this angry young man
Could not have seemed perfectly sane

We in our foolishness thought we were wise
He played the fool and He opened our eyes
We in our weakness believed we were strong
He became helpless to show we were wrong
So we follow God's own Fool
For only the foolish can tell
Believe the unbelievable, come be a fool as well

So come lose your life for a carpenter's son
For a madman who died for a dream
And You'll have the faith His first followers had
And you'll feel the weight of the beam

So surrender the hunger to say you must know
Find the courage to say I believe
For the power of paradox opens your eyes
And blinds those who say they can see

We in our foolishness thought we were wise
He played the fool and He opened our eyes
We in our weakness believed we were strong
He became helpless to show we were wrong

So we follow God's own Fool
For only the foolish can tell
Believe the unbelievable, come be a fool as well

Wishing you joy in the journey,

Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure store."
