That’s not how it works – Buying Redemption

Greetings Dear Reader,

Buying one’s way out of trouble is common in our culture for those who can afford to do so.  Most people find this offensive.  One should not be able to avoid the consequences of wrong doing simply because one can pay money to avoid it.

In a just world we would all be under the same law and the same consequences for violating that law.  Because humans are flawed and fallen that is not how it works.  Justice is an ideal but not a common way of life.

This also leads to thinking that we can buy our way out of the debt we owe God.  We all owe him the penalty of judgment for our sin.  God is a just judge and will not violate his own justice.  Even though he longs to forgive us there must be satisfaction for both justice and love for there to be righteousness.

This is the purpose that Jesus fulfilled.  He paid the price for our judgment by his death.  Redemption comes through faith in that arrangement.  Those who would have redemption cannot purchase it.  It has already been purchased and we paid for the party with our dearest blood.

The way it works is by faith alone.  We accept the gift already purchased for us and we receive it.  We become heirs to all that God has in store for us by the acceptance of this gift.  This is the only way it works.

Wishing you joy in the journey,

Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure store."  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
