Meditations In the Christmas Story – Angel all Arounds - Tempus creandis indicta

Merry Christmas Dear Reader,

“…the Angel of the Lord came upon them and the glory of the Lord shone round about them and they were sore afraid.’

Angels seem to be one of the hallmarks of Christmas still allowed to be shown.  Our shepherds fear with good cause.  The Messenger of God shows up among the sheep.  The very glory of God shines around him.  He makes the great announcement.

This announcement to shepherds is the paramount act of God the Father including the least in his plan to bring us back to his arms.  He shatters the stillness of night to announce the birth.  He comes suddenly among us to be with us; to be Immanuel.

It is in this moment of announcement that the incarnation of God becomes the gift to the world that God intends.  It is in this instant that redemption is possible.  It is in this moment that the good will of the Father is realized in love, in action, and in a very short time, in sacrifice.  For now, however, we sing in celebration.

Hark the herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn king
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled"

Joyful all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With angelic host proclaim
"Christ is born in Bethlehem"
With angelic host proclaim
"Christ is born in Bethlehem"

Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth

Veiled in flesh, the Godhead see
Hail the incarnate Deity
Pleased as man with men to dwell
Jesus, our Immanuel
Pleased as man with men to dwell
Jesus, our Immanuel

Hail the Heaven born Prince of Peace
Hail the Sun of Righteousness
Light and life to all He brings
Ris'n healing in His wings

Christ the highest Heaven adored
Christ the everlasting Lord
Come desire of nations come
Fix in us Thy humble home
Come desire of nations come
Fix in us Thy humble home

Wishing you joy in the journey,

Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure store.”
