The Road to Bethlehem – Opening Thoughts – December Prayer

Merry Christmas Dear Reader,

As we enter the rush toward Christmas I want to give you a gift Dear Reader.   My hope is to provide you with a daily moment of peace and pondering.  It is in the music that we can find so much that can ease us.

The time will pass quickly.   We will blink and it will be Boxing Day.  My hope is that this Christmas season will bring you closer to the ideals behind it.  The first song I want to visit is December Prayer.  Of note is the progression of the chorus.

Hear the song within the silence,
See the beauty when there's nothing there,
Sing a song within a silence that hope and love are everywhere,

We are meant to hear the song, see the beauty, and pass on the song that hope and lover are everywhere.   This is the time when love and hope can get a little better foothold.  When we allow that we create a space of safety for others to seek the hope they need.

My prayer is to start the month being a beacon of hope and love by being kind, patient, and generous.  As we journey through December we are traveling to Bethlehem whether we acknowledge it or not.  We should walk gently to the manger.  Please walk with me and tell me how the journey is going for you.  This is my December prayer for you Dear Reader.

December Prayer – Indina Menzel

In the touch of a friend, in the breath of a child,
In the eyes of a soldier coming home to his mother's grateful smile,
In the sight of falling snow, and the memories it brings,
In the season when you find some peace, in the simple tender things,
Open your heart and look around, listen; listen

Hear the song within the silence,
See the beauty when there's nothing there,
Sing a song within a silence that hope and love are everywhere,
And when the quiet night is falling watch an angel dancing in the air
To the song, the song within the silence a December Prayer,
A December Prayer.

In the strength of your hand as it holds unto mine,
And the promise that we're not alone in this place and time,
In the gifts that you give I am humbled and amazed
Far beyond this day and time of year
We are in a state of grace.
Open your heart and look around, listen; listen

Hear the song within the silence,
See the beauty when there's nothing there,
Sing a song within a silence that hope and love are everywhere,
And when the quiet night is falling watch an angel dancing in the air
To the song, the song within the silence a December Prayer,
A December Prayer

Listen; listen
Hear the song within the silence,
See the beauty when there's nothing there,
Sing a song within a silence that hope and love are everywhere,
And when the quiet night is falling watch an angel dancing in the air
To the song, the song within the silence a December Prayer,
A December Prayer.

Wishing you joy in the journey,
