Greetings Dear Reader,
There are those who have reached the end of the journey
ahead of me. I miss them more than I
admit to anyone. In the top three are
my Grandfather, my Sister, and my Daughter.
The empty places left by their departure are
unfillable. God is faithful and
consoles me when the longing for them is deepest. They will not come to me but eventually I
will catch up with them.
This day belongs to those who are already with Christ. I think of my friend Jason who has only been
gone a year and those who loved him still feel the pain of his parting. I consider the loss of friends one with which
I will become familiar as I age. I work
hard to balance the sorrow I feel and the hope I wish to live.
I used to worry about partings much when I was little. My Grandfather would comfort by reminding me
that at the end of our lives, when all things are brought back to good we will
have a vast celebration including a very special supper. He always called it ‘the big dinner.”
It seemed that he was so assured of where he was headed back
then. It took me a long time to find
that faith. Today I have that faith for
all who have gone on before me. I
celebrate the gift of redemption. I
celebrate all who live by faith and have found their faith fulfilled in Christ.

Sand Bass – Johnny Cash
i remember when i was a lad
times were hard and things were bad
but there's a silver lining' behind every cloud
just four people that’s all we were
trying' to make a living' out of black-land dirt
but we'd get together in a family circle singin' loud
daddy sang bass (mama sang tenor)
me and little brother would join right in there
singin' seems to help a troubled soul
one of these days and it won't be long
I’ll rejoin them in a song
I’m gonna join the family circle at the throne
though the circle won't be broken
by and by, lord, by and by
daddy sang bass (mama sang tenor)
me and little brother would join right in there
in the sky, lord, in the sky
now i remember after work mama would call in all of us
you could hear us singin' for a country mile
now little brother has done gone on
but I’ll rejoin him in a song
we'll be together again up yonder in a little while
daddy sang bass (mama sang tenor)
me and little brother would join right in there
'cause singin' seems to help a troubled soul
one of these days and it won't be long
I’ll rejoin them in a song
I’m gonna join the family circle at the throne
oh, no the circle won't be broken
by and by, lord, by and by
daddy sang bass (mama sang tenor)
me and little brother would join right in there
in the sky, lord, in the sky
in the sky, lord, in the sky
Wishing you joy in the journey,

Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer
who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home
owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure
store.”
