Music of the Season – Silver Bells

Greetings Dear Reader,

I write often about the things that are very important to me at Christmas time.  This song is one of the most important non-Christian songs there is for me.  You see the silver bells that we hear are what matters most about this song.

Often now it is in the parking lot that I first hear them.  It is something I listen for with intent.  The sound of the small bell ringing carries so well through the air.  I immediately check to see if I have something to give.

The Salvation Army does so much for so many.  They care for those in need by feeding and sheltering them.  The Silver Bells one hears is the sound of them reminding us that there are those in need.  I have so much and helping them during the Christmas season is a great joy for me.  I even found my own real silver bell to use when I go ringing this year.

Silver Bells – Jay Livingston and Jay Evans

City sidewalks busy sidewalks
Dressed in holiday style
In the air
There's a feeling of Christmas
Children laughing
People passing
Meeting smile after smile
And on ev'ry street corner you'll hear

Silver bells silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring a ling hear them sing
Soon it will be Christmas day

Hear the snow crunch
See the kids bunch
This is Santa's big scene
And above all this bustle you'll hear

Strings of street lights
Even stop lights
Blink a bright red and green
As the shoppers rush home with their treasures

Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them sing
Soon it will be Christmas day

Wishing you joy in the journey,

Aramis Thorn
Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure store."

  1. yay! I love this song!! And I surprised myself by realizing the number one thing I am missing this Christmas is the red kettle campaign! Both as a shopper and a bell ringer.
