Greetings
Dear Reader
The famous
American carol We three
Kings of Orient Are was written in 1857 by Rev. John Henry Hopkins. I love this song because it so eloquently spans
the entire life of Christ in a positive and mindful way. Without the birth we never get to the cross
which is where our redemption is purchased.
To add a bit
of fun to the song I urge you to click this link
which will take you to the California Raisins version of the song. It is from the Christmas Special that
premiered in 1987. The doo-whop camels
are especially entertaining.
We three
kings of Orient are
Bearing
gifts we traverse afar
Field and
fountain, moor and mountain
Following
yonder star
Chorus
by James Jacques Joseph Tissot |
The Journey of the Magi
(1894) by James Jacques Joseph Tissot
O Star of
wonder, star of night
Star with
royal beauty bright
Westward
leading, still proceeding
Guide us to
thy Perfect Light
Born a King
on Bethlehem's plain
Gold I bring
to crown Him again
King
forever, ceasing never
Over us all
to reign
Frankincense
to offer have I
Incense owns
a Deity nigh
Prayer and
praising, all men raising
Worship Him,
God most high
Myrrh is
mine, its bitter perfume
Breathes of
life of gathering gloom
Sorrowing,
sighing, bleeding, dying
Sealed in
the stone-cold tomb
Glorious now
behold Him arise
King and God
and Sacrifice
Alleluia,
Alleluia
Earth to
heav'n replies.
Wishing you
joy in the journey,

Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer who has become a disciple of
Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home owner. He liberally hands out new
and old things from his great treasure store."
