So many of
the things we involve in our worship and practice are preferences. There is no “right” way to do some
things. God is not concerned with the
method and volume of our worship as much as he is concerned with the worship
being from our hearts.
One can find
an ample supply of Christians who will tell you that you must pray like them or
you must give in this way. They will
tell you that these are the required ways to attend services and this is what
you must wear. Further on there are
those who will insist that you conform completely to the box in which they have
shrouded the gospel.
All of this
is unnecessary. Christ wishes only
us. He wishes our hearts and allegiance. We are fee to have preferences as to how we
will worship, pray, and serve. When we
make those preferences the “key” to following Christ we put more baggage in the
gospel than it is meant to carry.
Once I put
preference over the simple commands to love my God, my neighbors, and my
enemies I have left behind the gospel and taken on a personal idolatry.
Wishing you
joy in the journey,

Mat 13:52 So
Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer who has become a disciple of
Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home owner. He liberally hands out new
and old things from his great treasure store."
