Merry Christmas Dear Reader,
I have been on a real sleigh ride. One should have it on one’s “bucket list”. It was fun but not romantic in any way. It was a long ride in falling snow to a
destination. The conversation and hot
chocolate (with brandy) were memorable.
During the time of the ride we crossed a field of untouched
snow. The beauty of this vast area
covered in the untouched white left me speechless. The only path through the drifts was the snow
covered road we were on.
Pulling the sleigh was one of the largest Percherons I have ever seen. He pulled the sleigh with ease and great puffs of frosty breath issued from his nostrils like a living steam train. The horse did know the way and the driver held the reins
only as a precaution. The rhythm of the
bells as we road was hypnotic. My mind
pondered how amazing the Father is to provide so much grandeur in the world.
This is my first Christmas without snow in many years. I am reminded how much I love it. I am also reminded not to complain. Since I believe that God never gets the
weather wrong I am determined not to second guess his choice for us this
year. Perhaps it will make me more
thankful when the snow returns.
For now I will remember that sleigh ride on that winter’s
eve some years ago. I will remember that
people and joy and beauty. After all one
of the multitude of things I have to be grateful
for is the pleasant memories of the Father’s past provisions.

Just hear those sleigh bells jing-a-ling
Ring ting ting-a-ting too
C'mon it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you
Outside the snow is falling
And friends are calling you hoo
C'mon it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together
Giddy-up giddy-up giddy-up let's go
Let's look at the show
We're riding in a wonderland of snow
Giddy-up giddy-up giddy-up it's grand
Just holding your hand
We're riding along with a song
Of a wintery fairyland
Our cheeks are nice and rosy
And comfy cozy are we
We snuggle close together
Like two birds of a feather would be
Let's take that road before us
And sing a [Chorus] or two
C'mon it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you
There's a birthday party
At the home of Farmer Grey
It'll be the perfect ending
Of a perfect day
We'll be singing the songs we love to sing
Without a single stop
At the fireplace where
We'll watch the chestnuts pop
Pop pop pop
There's a happy feeling
Nothing in this world can buy
When they pass around
The coffee and the pumpkin pie
It'll nearly be like
A picture print by Currier & lives
These wonderful things
Are the things
We remember all through our lives
These wonderful things
Are the things
We remember all through our lives
Sleigh bells jing-a-ling
Ring ting ting-a-ting too
C'mon it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you
Outside the snow is falling
And friends are calling you hoo
C'mon it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together
Giddy-up giddy-up giddy-up let's go
Let's look at the show
We're riding in a wonderland of snow
Giddy-up giddy-up giddy-up it's grand

It's lovely weather

Lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you
Wishing you joy in the journey,

who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home
owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure
