Meditations In the Christmas Story – A Seven Way King - Tempus Rex

Merry Christmas Dear Reader,

“And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David: )

Matthew the Tax Collector takes the time to show us Jesus rightful claim to the throne of Israel a paternal descendant of David.  Luke shows us Jesus’ right to the throne through his mother.

He is the rightful King of Israel.  He is the rightful King of the world.  Dr. S. M. Lockridge explains that Jesus is a seven way King:

He's the King of the Jews - that's an Ethnic King
He's the King of Israel - that's a National King
He's the King of righteousness.
He's the King of the ages.
He's the King of Heaven.
He's the King of glory.
He's the King of kings and He is the Lord of lords

His parents return to the city of their forebear King David to give birth to the King of Kings.  Their thoughts are not on royalty.  The parents thoughts are on shelter and safety in the shadow of forced migration.

They are nonetheless the hidden prince and princess of every fantasy tale.  They are the bearers of the golden child who comes to save the kingdom.  They are the ones who bring forth the hero that will one day fulfill the return of the King.

The babe is the manger is my King.  I honor him as such.  It is for the King that we exist. We live as if he is far way when he says he is with us.  We live as if he will not return but he has made clear that he coming back to that that which is his own.  He has already won and we wait by celebrating the birth but we must do more to live the reality.

I must do more.  I must live like the King is here.  It is in him that I live and move and have my being.

King Jesus – Jeremy Camp

All creation shook on that very day
The Lamb was slain
Then redemption came to anyone
Who would call His name

With peace and with strength
You broke these heavy chains
And salvation reigned

And with a shout of praise
And with our voices raised

King Jesus, Your are victorious
You have conquered death with this life of love
King Jesus, You are victorious
You paid the final debt for all of us
King Jesus, You are victorious

None can separate the very hope
And grace that He displayed
Neither height nor depth
Or anyone can steal the love He gave

And with a shout of praise
And with our voices raised

One day every knee will bow
Behold You in Your glory
Every tongue will declare Your Holy name
King Jesus, You are victorious

Wishing you joy in the journey,

Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure store.”
