Greetings Dear Reader,
I write about this every year and will continue to do
so. It is so important that we get
outside of ourselves and see the needs of others. One of the ways in which I do this is bell
ringing for the Salvation Army. What
they do is so important to the community.
They work on the front lines of helping the homeless and feeding the
poor.
Recent undeserved bad press has caused some to leave
helping with their annual kettle campaign.
I have seen fewer kettles and bell ringers this year and it saddens
me. No matter what you think of the
faith that this organization follows what they do for others is vital.
I do this every year as way of helping my community and
giving out a little Christmas cheer. It
is not too late to sign up for a shift at ringbells.org. See I even made it a link for you. If you bell ring I would love to see pictures
of you doing it. Invite a friend of
family member to do so with you.
It is so important that we help others in our
community. It is so needed. As you are out spending and getting please do
not forget about giving. I know that my
heart jumps a little every time I hear those bells. They ring out above all the bustle and remind
us that there are those who need our charity and kindness so very much. Enjoy the song and listen for the bells.
Silver Bells – Jay
Livingston and Ray Evans – Performed by Johnnie Mathis
City sidewalks busy sidewalks
Dressed in holiday
style
In the air
There's a feeling
of Christmas
Children laughing
People passing
Meeting smile after
smile
And on every street
corner you'll hear
Silver bells silver
bells
It's Christmas time in
the city
Ring a ling, hear them
ring
Soon it will be
Christmas day
Strings of street
lights
Even stop lights
Blink a bright red and
green
As the shoppers rush
Home with their
treasures
Hear the snow crunch
See the kids bunch
This is Santa's big
scene
And above all this
bustle
You'll hear
Silver bells, silver
bells
It's Christmas time in
the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them
ring
Soon it will be
Christmas day
Wishing you joy in the journey,
Aramis Thorn
Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer
who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home
owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure
store."
