Greetings Dear Reader,
I could really continue on this for the remainder of the
year but I think I have processed what I need to process. Words have so much
more power that we realize. They can
build up or strike down. They can do harm
or good. Words matter. They have meaning and that meaning must be
understood for communication to work.
Someone recently asked me why I was so positive all the
time. I do not see myself that way but apparently
they do. My answer was, “I did not
realize that I was but I am glad if it is true.
Any good that you see in me is because of Jesus.”
My friend was obviously taken aback by this and said, “You
mean to say that you are spiritual or at least ‘god’. You don’t really mean to say ‘Jesus’.
I smiled as I realized that the word that gave him
difficulty was the Living Word. As
gently as possible I assured him that I did mean Jesus; the one in the
Bible. It took the rest of our lunch
together for me to explain the difference between being religious and following
Christ.
I know people who follow Christ with an honest heart that
balk at saying the name of Jesus. They
refer to Christ in pronouns with a knowing look. It is the name of Jesus that is the honest
word. It is this name that will one day
put us all on our knees. That moment
will not be subjugation but heart filled reverence.
Honest words matter.
Saying what we mean to say is vital to real communication. Choosing to be genuine and loving in the
words we use is essential to faith and following. I must be sensitive to the feelings of others
but not at the expense of honesty.
As I journey I will not be governed by the political climate
or the dismissiveness of others. I will attempt
to be loving and kind whilst speaking the truth. I am required to speak the truth. I am required to do so in love. Jesus is an honest word. It is the responsibility of those who would
follow him to tear away the noise with which his followers and detractors
surround it.
The
Final Word – Michael Card
You and me we use so very many clumsy words.
The noise of what we often say is not worth being heard.
When the Father’s Wisdom wanted to communicate His love,
He spoke it in one final perfect Word.
He spoke the Incarnation and then so was born the Son.
His final word was Jesus, He needed no other one.
Spoke flesh and blood so He could bleed and make a way
Divine.
And so was born the baby who would die to make it mine.
And so the Father’s fondest thought took on flesh and bone.
He spoke the living luminous Word, at once His will was
done.
And so the transformation that in man had been unheard
Took place in God the Father as He spoke that final Word.
He spoke the Incarnation and then so was born the Son.
His final word was Jesus, He needed no other one.
Spoke flesh and blood so He could bleed and make a way
Divine.
And so was born the baby who would die to make it mine.
And so the Light became alive
And manna became Man.
Eternity stepped into time
So we could understand.
He spoke the Incarnation and then so was born the Son.
His final word was Jesus, He needed no other one.
Spoke flesh and blood so He could bleed and make a way
Divine.
And so was born the baby who would die to make it mine.
Wishing you joy in the journey,
Aramis Thorn
Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer
who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home
owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure
store.”
