It seems we are giving a special name to every day. Some called Thanksgiving Day “Gray Thursday”. Black Friday has been around for a bit
although I think it is becoming and increasing celebration of greed. I wonder what would happen if a national
retailer would challenge shoppers to enjoy Thanksgiving and the Friday after
with their families and then offer a complete list of what they have on special
beginning Saturday morning promising to meet or beat all other advertised
prices.
I like the idea of Small Business Saturday where we make
sure we care for our local merchants.
Cyber Monday appeals to the technology craziness in me. The one that gets my attention though is Giving Tuesday.
There are so many needs in the world and there are many
institutions that allow us avenues to get involved in giving. Although this should be far ahead on our list
of priorities it gets pushed aside. What
we do instead is get caught up in the business.
I challenge you to visit www.givingtuesday.org and find a way to
give back. Even if you cannot do something
today you can plan something for the near future. Remember that the goal is to become someone
who gives by establishing a habit of giving.
I am sure that you can find something that interests you on this site
and that can trigger some creative thinking.
Feel free to share your thoughts with me.
Wishing you joy in the journey,
Aramis Thorn
Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer
who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home
owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure
store."
