On Communism – The Obvious Good

Greetings Dear Reader,

In the second chapter of the book of Acts there is much focus on the first part of the chapter; the day of Pentecost.  We do not focus on what the infusion of God’s power drives them to do.

Act 2:44 - 46 All the believers kept meeting together, and they shared everything with each other. From time to time, they sold their property and other possessions and distributed the money to anyone who needed it. The believers had a single purpose and went to the temple every day. They were joyful and humble as they ate at each other's homes and shared their food.

The natural inclination of those influenced by the Holy Spirit is a sense of community.  The first note we have on what the church does is that is cares for the needs of others.  The things the church has done over the centuries to cause division is astounding.  In truth the followers of Christ are to embrace and Christ centered communism.  They are to share all things.

Jesus told us that if anyone asks us for anything we should give it to them.  We are to embrace the common good and the common welfare.  I am supposed to be more concerned about the needs of others than about personal possessions.  The purist form of communism is exactly what Christ wishes for us.

The Basin and the Towel – Michael Card

And the call is to community…

In an upstairs room, a parable
Is just about to come alive.
And while they bicker about who's best,
With a painful glance, He'll silently rise.

Their Savior Servant must show them how
Through the will of the water
And the tenderness of the towel.

And the call is to community,
The impoverished power that sets the soul free.
In humility, to take the vow,
That day after day we must take up the basin and the towel.

In any ordinary place,
On any ordinary day,
The parable can live again
When one will kneel and one will yield.

Our Savior Servant must show us how
Through the will of the water
And the tenderness of the towel.

And the space between ourselves sometimes
Is more than the distance between the stars.
By the fragile bridge of the Servant's bow
We take up the basin and the towel.

And the call is to community,
The impoverished power that sets the soul free.
In humility, to take the vow,
That day after day we must take up the basin and the towel.

Wishing you joy in the journey,

Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure store."
