Come as You Are – Broken but Still Working

Greetings Dear Reader,

Sometimes the damage to my heart seems inconsolable.  If I ponder it long enough though I realize that it is not just my heart that is broken.  My mind, my body, and my soul are all broken.  “I am damaged at best.”

When Avalon left me one of the things she told me was that “on paper you are a bad investment.”  Every time I try to think about who I am those words echo in my mind.  It leads me to both pain and joy.  The constant pain of those words from someone I loved re-break my heart every time they echo.  Then the Spirit reminds me that it is in that broken heart that a life can pour out for the Father.

We are all so very broken and that is how Christ invites us to be as we approach him.  It is the essence of coming to Christ as we are.  We are all a bad investment on paper.  We are all damaged at best.  We are all broken in every aspect of our being.  It is that we spend so much energy and pride pretending we are more than that.

It is when I realize just how damaged I am that I can life of my face, lay down my hurts, lay down my heart, and truly come to Christ as I am.  Even when I can barely hold on because I am so broken I just have to ask for the will to do so.  Christ never misses how crooked, damaged, and shattered I am.  He is the one, however, that can fit all that mess into something of value.

Every beautiful mosaic is made from the pieces of something broken.  Even when I can barely hold on Christ is crafting my shattered bits into a new and beautiful thing.  Fortunately I do not have to hold on to Christ because he has promised to hold on to me. He has promised that no one can steel me from his grasp.  He invites me to fall into his arms and rest just as I am.  He offers the same to you too Dear Reader.

Broken – Lifehouse

The broken clock is a comfort, it helps me sleep tonight
Maybe it can stop tomorrow from stealing all my time
I am here still waiting though i still have my doubts
I am damaged at best, like you've already figured out

I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain, there is healing
In your name I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on
I'm barely holdin' on to you

The broken locks were a warning you got inside my head
I tried my best to be guarded, I'm an open book instead
I still see your reflection inside of my eyes
That are looking for a purpose, they're still looking for life

I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
with a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain (in the pain), is there healing
In your name (in your name) I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin') I'm barely holdin' on to you

I'm hangin' on another day
Just to see what you throw my way
And I'm hanging on to the words you say
You said that I will be OK

The broken lights on the freeway left me here alone
I may have lost my way now, haven't forgotten my way home

I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
with a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain(In the pain) there is healing
In your name I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm barely holdin' on to you

I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm barely holdin' on to you

Wishing you joy in the journey,

Aramis Thorn

Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure store."  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  1. love the song today. And I love that Christ welcomes us as broken people, no need to put on a show to make ourselves look put together. we are loved because He is love. whoa.
