Greetings Dear Reader,
A series of ads currently running asks the what if of saying
what we really mean. This intrigues
me. My Grandfather used to say “You can
say whatever you need to say. It is how
you say it that matters.” My eldest Son,
Maxim does not like to mince words in any way.
It struck me that we are forgetting how to say what we mean and more so
forgetting to mean what we say.
We too often use too many words to say too little. The influence of political correctness and
double speak have replaced speaking the truth in love. The words we use get filtered so as not to
offend, make uncomfortable, or appear to disagree with the current public
thought.
In addition to accepting this form of thought police we have
lost the understanding that what we say matters. We do mince the words. Firm statements we make become word hash as
we look for a way out of our obligations.
Saying “I will do it” gets edited in our minds until it has enough
provisos to make it sound like an entertainer’s contract.
I need to spend some time pondering how to deal with a world
that wants to communicate in backdoors and escape clauses instead of solid
reasoning and common understanding.
Words need to be selected, vetted, and honestly applied to others. Walk with me Dear Reader as I craft words to
explain the words that make me concerned about the way in which we use
words. Your words always are valuable to
me.
Say
What you Need to Say – John Mayer
Take all of your wasted honor
Every little past frustration
Take all of your so-called problems,
Better put 'em in quotations
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Walking like a one-man army
Fighting with the shadows in your head
Living out the same old moment
Knowing you'd be better off instead,
If you could only
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Have no fear for giving in
Have no fear for giving over
You'd better know that in the end
It’s better to say too much
Then never say what you need to say again
Even if your hands are shaking
And your faith is broken
Even as the eyes are closing
Do it with a heart wide open
Say what you need to say, say what you need to say
Wishing you joy in the journey,
Aramis Thorn
Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer
who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home
owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure
store.”

I agree to walk with you, as I ponder the same and how to better my communication with others. One of the biggest difficulties is not saying things in a way that people want to hear. It saying what you need to say, and saying it in love. Our societies communication is broken as to "not offend" we need to create a community to change that statment.
