On America – Defined by Issues

Greetings Dear Reader,

There was a time when our politics were defined by issues and a partisan stance.  It used to be that when Mr. Smith went to Washington he went there to represent the interests of his constituency.  Now the candidates tell us what the issues are and serve their interests.

This great experiment was designed by men who put their lives and fortunes on the line so that everyone had a voice.  It seems that only money and power have voice now.  Both conservatives and liberals (you can rename these terms all you wish but it will not sound better) have agendas that are self-serving and profit motivated.

Whether you believe in God or not it is in the best interest of all concerned to pay attention to the issues that Christ saw as important.   He asked for people to care for the poor, the sick, and the prisoner.  He asked us to love our neighbors as much as we love ourselves.  I think that any other political issues are just so much talk.

I do not think either side of the isle makes progress in these areas.  They are too busy hating each other to make progress.  I must assure that I do not fall into the trap of being anything over being a Christ follower.  The aforementioned issues, if attended to, will resolve most of our twenty-first problems.  I must assure the my daily life is one that attends to these things in some way.

Which way are you going, which side will you be on
Will you stand and watch while all the seeds of hate are sown
Will you stand with those who say, let his will be done
One hand on the bible
One hand on the gun
One hand on the bible
One hand on the gun

Which way are you looking, is it hard to see
Do you say what’s wrong for him, is not wrong for me
You walk the streets, righteousness but you refuse to understand
You say you love the baby
Then you crucify the man
You say you love the baby
Then you crucify the man

Every day, things are changing, words once honored turned to lies
People wondering, can you blame them
It’s too far to run, and too late to hide

Now you turn your back on, all the things that you used to preach
Now its let him live in freedom, if he lives like me
Well you light has changed, confusion rains, what have you become
All your olive branches turned to spears
When your flowers turned to guns
Your olive branches turned to spears
When your flowers turned to guns

Wishing you joy in the journey,

Aramis Thorn

Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure store."
