The Crimson Thread – The Creation Story

Greetings Dear Reader,

I suppose that one cannot start earlier than Genesis 1:1.  We all know that the first sentence of the Bible is, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”  God does not introduce himself of give arguments for his existence.  He is just there making stuff.  I will not argue about the how of creation here.

What I wish to point out in this theme is that the word “God” here is plural.  Later in the New Testament it is verified that Jesus participates in creation but I thought it important to start with this.  We can also see that in Genesis 1:26 “And God said let US make man in our image…” (emphasis mine).

In the first chapter of the book that carries the thread of Christ we see that he is involved from the beginning.  More important is my place in all this.  It is God who is acting.  In that acting it is Jesus who is acting.

He already knows how things will unfold.  He is already aware of the cost of creation and is willing to pay it.  He begins the process that will lead to the fall, the flood, and the cross.  He declares all he makes good.

Jesus knows that the corridor of time he has opened will involve much sorrow and pain but he still declares it good.  He sees where he will insert himself along the way to guide us.  All he asks of us is that we follow.

Seventh Sunrise – Michael Card

Creation's seventh sunrise
We stand before the burning bush of time
The six days were good, the seventh He called holy,
Creation's seventh sunrise.

We wake and go to work six days a week,
To struggle with the strain and stress,
But the Lord's provided for the care of our souls,
A day to rejoice and rest.

Creation's seventh sunrise,
We stand before the burning bush of time,
The six days were good, the seventh He called holy,
Creation's seventh sunrise.

Come see a sanctuary made of time,
Come speak forgotten words of prayer, It call us
Come away from your dissonant days,
Come out, leave your worries there.

Creation's seventh sunrise,
We stand before the burning bush of time,
The six days were good, the seventh He called holy,
Creation's seventh sunrise.

The promise of that rest still stands
To all who would be free,
And though we might be bound by time,
We can taste Eternity.

Creation's seventh sunrise,
We stand before the burning bush of time,
The six days were good, the seventh He called holy,
Creation's seventh sunrise.

Wishing you joy in the journey,

Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure store."
