Second Thoughts – Jar of Hearts

Greetings Dear Reader,

Sometimes I will end the day with thoughts that are important to get out.  Usually I just write them and put them in my journal folder.  I have chosen that on occasion I will share them with you Dear Reader.

I always believe that love can crush any barrier.  I have a heart that wishes to always forgive and leave opportunity for love to win.  Some days that is much harder than others.  Today is one of those days.

Impending anniversaries and time markers seem to have me battling internally.  I see people dear to me struggling to do their best to do what is right when the one they wish to aid seeks to use them instead.  Manipulation and control surface in response to care and compassion.

I think there comes a time whether it is a town, a job, or a relationship where we never stop loving but still have to kick the dust from our feet.  We have a journey to continue and we cannot beg others to walk with us when what they wish is to instead drag us down with them.

It is a broken heart that I carry because of those who gave up on me.  It is also that still beating broken heart that hesitates to set aside anyone.  Still there are times when reaching out is a self-inflicted wound.  I never write anyone off.  I never stop loving anyone.  I also have to learn when proximity is poison.  I have to learn when devotion is danger.  Who do you think you are?

Jar of Hearts – Christina Perri

No, I can't take one more step towards you
'Cause all that's waiting is regret
Don't you know I'm not your ghost anymore
You lost the love I loved the most

I learned to live, half alive
And now you want me one more time

And who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are?

I hear you're asking all around
If I am anywhere to be found
But I have grown too strong
To ever fall back in your arms

I've learned to live, half alive
And now you want me one more time

And who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are?

I hear you're asking all around
If I am anywhere to be found
But I have grown too strong
To ever fall back in your arms

Deas took so long just to feel alright
Remember how to put back the light in my eyes
I wish I had missed the first time that we kissed
'Cause you broke all your promises
And now you're back
You don't get to get me back

Who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
Don't come back for me
Don't come back at all

And who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
Don't come back for me
Don't come back at all

Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?

Wishing you joy in the journey,
