Greetings Dear Reader,
We all love the Amazon box.
It tells us that we have magically clicked our way to obtaining something
we want or need. It arrives and we feel
that moment of excitement that the thing has been delivered and we can employ
it to our purpose.
Another aspect of this is that we all need delivery. We live in a world where we have to coexist
with evil. I am not saying that
everything is evil. I am saying that
there is evil everywhere. A good friend
once counseled me that I use this word too often. That was years ago and I have been careful
how I apply it since then. She was
right.
It is still vital that we understand that in every moment we
need delivery from the evil presence in the world. I will talk more about the evil aspect of it
tomorrow. What I want to focus on today
is the deliverance aspect. Let us return
to the Amazon analogy.
We ask for something from Amazon. That sets in motion a series of events that
lead to a carrier bringing the package to your door. Sometimes, it is left for you and sometimes,
you must sign for it. Either way, the carrier
marks the package as delivered.
Our delivery from evil is the same. We request it by faith. That is why it is part of this prayer that
Jesus teaches as a model for us to use.
The process has already been completed on his end. The payment for our deliverance from our own
evil and eventually all evil has been made.
It is Christ’s death and resurrection that is the payment. We are in the process of delivery in every moment. That is the journey we are on Dear
Reader.
When we walk the journey, we must realize that we need deliverance
in every moment. It is part of the daily
provision included in our request for daily bread. The provision is a promise that if we follow
in faith, we will eventually find deliverance from all evil. As we journey, we can be free of evil within
our hearts in each moment that we yield to Jesus. It is the glimmer of home intended to move us
down the path. It is part of the joy in our
journey.
Wishing you joy in the journey,

writer who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a
homeowner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure
