Second Thoughts ~ It Goes So Fast

Greetings Dear Reader,

I was thinking about time today.   I find myself wishing to be with people where proximity is not easy at this time.  I was pondering how Bezel always makes time for me and how grateful I am for it.  I considered the time past and the time remaining.

As I pondered all of this, I thought about how quickly time passes.  Then, I saw a joke about time.  It simply said, “when you die, have your body cremated and put into an hourglass.  Then, you can still be a part of family game night.”

I was certain that the level of possibility I saw in this would bother some of you.  It did push me to think more about how to leave something that would last in the hearts and minds of my family.  They show little interest in my writing so, that is not a good bet.  Then, that soft voice that I should always heed spoke.

The voice said, “Do not worry about a legacy here.  Keep looking for ways to recapture the good that is lost.  It is what you are here for.  The past has no power.  The present moment can be woven into a tapestry of time and yieldedness to Christ that will last long after you have moved on to that Undiscovered Country.”

Time flows constantly presenting moments that pass through the pinch.  I cannot do anything enduring other than seeking Christ fully in each of them.  As I seek to do this, desiring to love the Father in each of those moments, time seems to slow.  I find that looking back is a constantly lessening occurrence.  Even when I am hurting or tired, there is a peace that I have not previously known.

In a moment it will all be over, Dear Reader.  All that will remain is the love we have shown to the Father and each other.  We have so far to go to redeem that which is lost.  Christ has done the work to make it possible and has asked us to do the work to make it a reality.  So, as I gather wool whilst taking a day of rest, I ponder that even now, what I desire is to love the Father with every grain that passes through the pinch in the hourglass and to help you see his love for you.  It is where we find the wonder and wildness to life.  It is how we can slow time into threads of love that will stretch into all eternity.

The Wild Places – Dan Fogelberg

I was walking alone through the lofty San Juans
With a heart full of light
And a head full of songs
I was thinking of time
And how much it will cost
To recapture the souls
That we surely have lost

In the cities and towns
There are millions who dream
But the traffic's so loud
That you can't hear them scream

There's a heaven on earth
That so few ever find
Though the map's in your soul
And the road's in your mind

So many mountains before us
So many rivers to cross
Where is the wisdom to bring
Back the vision we've lost

Can we gaze with the wonder of children
Into the deafening night
Has it gotten so dark
That we cannot remember the light?

When you sleep on the ground
With the stars in your face
You can feel the full length
Of the beauty and grace

In the wild places man
Is an unwelcome guest
But it's here that I'm found
And it's here I feel blessed

Wishing you joy in the journey,
