Greetings Dear Reader,
As we prepare our thinking about what to give we may wish to
tick off a few things not to give. One
of things that we are good at giving each other is sorrow. We are excellent at resurrecting pain and
hurt and inflicting them on one another during the holiday season.
We bring to the gatherings our own anger and bitterness over
things of the past. We wrap them up in pride
and self-centered thinking. We blind
ourselves to the good in others and only focus on what has hurt or angered us
in the past.
We could choose to approach things with a truly thankful
heart for our family. We could, simply
put, decide that others have had enough sorrow.
We can choose to infuse the world with joy and love. We can be forgiving, kind, loving even when
it hurts us to do so.
We choose how we treat each other. We choose what we do to each other. We choose to visit the past and its sorrows
on people. If we are going to enter into
a time of thankfulness and giving why not do it by first laying aside our own
pride and resentment?
As I prepare my heart for this time that closes the year I
have so much for which to be thankful and so much I wish to give. I must do so first by assuring that my
private hurts and losses are not center stage.
I must put Christ center state and allow all the love he holds for us to
radiate in all that I think and do.
We have all done enough to hurt each other. It is time to grow up and be the ones who
give forgiveness and kindness wrapped in the love of the one who always forgives us.
Wishing you joy in the journey,
Aramis Thorn
Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer
who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home
owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure
store.”
