The Hallowed Days ~ Preparing to Respond

Greetings Dear Reader,

One of the things we face as we attend the gatherings and celebrations of the year’s end is that of the encounters we would rather avoid.  There are those people who we prefer to avoid.  There are those who cause us pain that makes us less than we can be.  There is an answer but it is not as much fun as it is necessary.

The simple truth is that no matter the social situation, we can hallow the world a little with a single response.  If we choose to respond in love to every encounter, we are better ready to withstand the difficulties of unpleasant encounters.  We are forearmed against the things that seek to remove our gratitude and kindness.

We all have those people who have caused us pain but we must encounter them at the aforementioned gatherings.  A good place to start is to recall that we are all that person to someone.  We all have hurt people who deserved better from us.  So, if we begin with the humility inherent in that truth, we have someplace to begin to extend love to others.

The second part is that if we hallow our hearts to love others, we are more resilient to the things that others do that harm us.  Love destroys fear.  It leaves no room for resentment or anger.  It gives us a cloak of protection that we all too often fail to wear.  I must hallow my heart to show love in each encounter as the business and busyness of the time visits itself upon me.

I must prepare my mind to respond in love for everyone.  I am going to better weather the challenges of difficult people if I approach the season with love and compassion.  It is love that can reach through the harder things and help me be who I am supposed to be.  You and I Dear Reader have the capacity to love if we choose to hallow our hearts to it.  Shall we try?

Wishing you joy in the journey,
