The Right to Change ~ A Matter of Will

Greetings Dear Reader,

I ponder often how much of what we do that we would not do is a matter of will.  We choose what we do. Others make their own choices.  One cannot be forced to do anything if one is determined to change.  It comes down to how much of life you are willing to give to make a thing different.

Still, no matter what your past, you have the right and ability to change whatever you will.  When we believe this, we are able to put things into motion to make matters different.  We have to choose though.  We have to act.  We have to move.

If I have that power then so does anyone else.  Where we fail is that we do not create that opportunity for others.  We may try.  The problem is that we put a time limit or boundaries around the trying.  Love demands that we always hope and believe that others can become their better selves.  It says that we must always forgive.  We do not get to proclaim, “He will never change.”

Others changing and our allowing them the freedom to do so is a choice.  It is an act of will.  It is choosing that we will love others and believe that they can change.  We must do so without expectation or demand.  We must show our love and hope.

In the same vein, I must always look for the ways in which I must exercise my right to change.  I do not need anyone’s permission.  I must examine my life each day and look for what must increase or decrease in it.  That is a primary purpose of this writing Dear Reader.  We must choose every day to change for the better.  We must exact our will upon our natures and follow Christ more closely.

Wishing you joy in the journey,
