Happy Christmas Dear Reader,
I know that there are those who are already weary of
Christmas music. I listen to it all year
round. It is the hymns that hold the
promise. They tell us the words that we
long for but also dismiss.
Simple phrases, most wrought centuries past ask us to hope
and believe. They ask us to rest in the
promises of Christmas. They offer us
tidings of comfort and joy. They offer
these promises to the entire world.
Let us look at a few of them:
“The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee
tonight.”
“Though few may hear his coming, yet in this world of sin,
where meek souls will receive him still the dear Christ enters in.”
“Mild He lays His Glory by, born that man no more may die, born
to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth.”
“Long lay the world in sin and error pining ‘til he appeared
and the soul felt its worth.”
“Now ye need not fear the grave.”
I could go on. The
promises are plenty and full. The idea
is to fill my spirit with the promise that there is hope and love and joy. It is to be so full of it that I live out
those promises no matter my state or station.
It is to be so resolute in their veracity that I spread the love and joy
to others at every turn. There is then
always time for another Christmas song.
Wishing you joy in the journey,
Aramis Thorn
Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer
who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home
owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure
store.”
