We Can Be Heroes ~ Closing Thoughts

Greetings Dear Reader,

Heroes rise out of necessity when good must triumph over evil.  Heroism is defined by moments.  It is not the costume or the power.  It is the actions taken.  It is the choices we make when things are grim.

No one is to blame for my failures but me.  The same is true of those who blame me for theirs.  We choose.  We think, feel, and act.  We live in each moment choosing what we will become for the next one.

When we think we are heroic we are not.  When pride overrides humility we lose our way.  The moment we think to benefit from what we are called to do we are no longer doing what we should.  We can be heroes but we have to get out of the way.  We have to see just how much help we need.

Clark Kent may be Superman’s commentary on us but we need to remember that in that commentary we see a humble man who strives to do what is right.  We see someone who works to be the human side of his superhuman nature.  We can see what he wishes us to be as humans.

Christ, the God-man did the same for me.  He showed me the example of what a human can be if he wishes.  He gives us the Spirit to create the power in us to be heroic.  No matter the ashes from which we rise it is the next moment that matters. It is today that counts.  I must follow.  I must rise.  I am no hero but perhaps there is time left to make a difference.

Superman (It’s Not Easy) – Five for Fighting

I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
I'm just out to find
The better part of me
I'm more than a bird, I'm more than a plane
I'm more than some pretty face beside a train
And it's not easy to be me

Wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
About a home I'll never see

It may sound absurd, but don't be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed, but won't you concede
Even heroes have the right to dream
And it's not easy to be me

Up, up and away, away from me
Well, it's all right, you can all sleep sound tonight
I'm not crazy
Or anything

I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
Men weren't meant to ride
With clouds between their knees

I'm only a man in a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite on this one-way street
Only a man in a funny red sheet
Looking for special things inside of me
Inside of me
Inside me
Inside me
Inside of me

I'm only a man
In a funny red sheet
I'm only a man
Looking for a dream
I'm only a man
In a funny red sheet
And it's not easy
It's not easy to be
Me

Wishing you joy in the journey,
