Ever since I can
remember, I have not considered other people as strangers. My Grandfather would tell other adults that
the only friends I did not have were people I have not met. There was a time where I did not live this. Being back to it is refreshing.
I have a friend who is very careful not to friend people on social media that he does not actually know. He admits that there are a few but they have become friends through distance learning or distance work. A relationship formed in a venue where one cannot meet except virtually means that there must be exceptions. This means that of his 977 FB friends, he actually knows all but 11 of them. He is also the guy who will be kind and friendly to you no matter who you are.
I accept almost
every request I get because I feel that every human needs a friend. I am good at weeding out scams. The point is that there is no human out there,
even the scammers, that is not branded on the heart of the Father. I am required to love them all. I too want the entirety of humanity branded
on my heart. We have so many examples of
how that is what is best for the world.
In two days, it will
be Epiphany. It is when we celebrate the
visitation of the Magi. I
will go into that more on Wednesday. What
I wish to fix firmly in my mind today is that every human is worthy of my
love. If not, then I am not worthy of
any love. I must love with the intent of
striving to learn how to love more like Christ does. Each life that I encounter must depart from
our meeting feeling loved.
My heart must be
branded by every life. I must long for
them to be loved, have peace, accept grace, and receive mercy. My love must reflect Christ in a way that
they are drawn to that light. I still
fail. I still battle my own faults and
foibles. Still, Dear Reader, there must
be a humble boldness to love that crushes resistance to it without harming the
one resisting. In this, we can reach a
world that desperately needs what Jesus offers.
In this, I can follow more closely and be a better man. About a thousand people
will read this blog post. Imagine the
impact if we all applied the idea of loving everyone we encounter.
Wishing you joy in
the journey,
