Chameleon ~ Closing Thoughts

Greetings Dear Reader,

We all try to hide at times.  It is part of our nature to hide in plain sight in some instances.  There are times I wish to pass unnoticed or to simply blend into the surroundings.

As long as I am not blending it to hide who I am or my faith, this is not a bad thing.  If I am blending in for the purpose of hiding my faith, I am wrong.  If I choose to be a Chameleon for the purpose of compromising my standards, that too is dangerous.  I am supposed to be set apart for the purpose of faith and following.

It is possible to ride the fence and straddle both worlds.  In that success is true failure.  I may not compromise the Gospel and be following Christ.  The two do not reconcile.  I think that the actual Chameleon is a beautifully created creature.  I find that it has a very clear lesson to teach.

If I simply blend with my surroundings, I am doing it for my own “safety” or my own purpose.  Jesus wishes for us to stand out because of our love, grace, and humility.  We are to be seen because of our actions that benefit others.  We are only to blend in through ways that earn us the right to be heard.

I will close with another Petra song.  I have listened through most of their catalog whilst writing this week.  I would ask, Dear Reader that we resolve to be seen.  Perhaps we can learn to be seen by living out the Gospel in all that we do.  After all, God’s children must be seen before they will be heard.

Seen and Not Heard – Petra

Too many black sheep in the family
Too many stones from a house of glass
They've heard the story, they've heard the lines
But talk is too cheap to change their minds
They want to see some vital signs

Convictions - in the way we live
Convictions - not a narrative
Actions speak a little louder than words

Seen and not heard, seen and not heard
Sometimes God's children should be seen and not heard
There's too much talk and not enough walk
Sometimes God's children should be seen and not heard

Delayed reaction to hostility
Brings us into reality
Cause when we answer in our defense
They can see through the false pretense
They want to see some evidence

Commitment - no more alibis
Commitment - not a compromise
Actions speak a little louder than words
Seen and not heard, seen and not heard
Sometimes God's children should be seen and not heard
There's too much talk and not enough walk
Sometimes God's children should be seen and not heard

Let your light so shine in all you do
With an answer near when they come to you
Don't let your mouth start talkin'
Until your feet start walkin'
Seen and not heard, seen and not heard
Sometimes God's children should be seen and not heard
There's too much talk and not enough walk
Sometimes God's children should be seen and not heard

Wishing you joy in the journey,
