Chameleon ~ Please Accept Me

Greetings Dear Reader,

All we have to do is look at the clothing aisle of any store to see what we must be to be accepted as properly dressed.  Ads will tell us what the right phone, tablet, or car is.  We hear the constant barrage of information telling us what we already have is passe and what we need is on its way.

Behavior and language also determine if we are accepted by others.  There is an entire world industry that will sell us what we need to be accepted.  We go to foolish extremes to get others to like us.  We worry about whether others like us or whether we fit into society.  None of the things we do regarding fashion, hairstyles, or even more extreme choices are necessarily wrong.

The difficulty we face is that we are trying to fit in with the wrong world altogether.  We need to realize that the acceptance we need is found freely in Christ.  Jesus loves me.  He went to the ultimate extreme to show me his love.  He asked that I simply love the Father and listen to the Spirit.

This horse needs no beating to ride it well, Dear Reader.  I have felt unacceptable most of my life.  The more I yield that need for acceptance to the love of the Father, the easier it becomes to love others no matter who or what they are.  The further I go in doing those two things, the easier it is to not care about the trends we are supposed to follow to fit into society.  As those trends take on spiritual and social extremes, the habit of not trying to be a social Chameleon serves me well.  What are your thoughts here?

Wishing you joy in the journey,
