Is That Not Enough ~ Vacations

Greetings Dear Reader,

We must fast forward again.  Throughout the history of the arrival of Abraham’s descendants, they had rules to live by and promises to claim.  One of the requirements set forth by God was the year of rest to match the weekly day of rest.

Every seventh year they were to let their fields rest and not work.  I try to imagine what that could have been like.  The Father promised that in the sixth year they would have an abundance of all they needed so that they could have a year of rest.  They never tried it.

In that first sixth year, their crops were doubled.  Their livestock was doubled.  All they needed for a year-long vacation was provided.  That was not enough.  They worked through that seventh year and every seventh year for the next 490.  It is that simple, Dear Reader.  The Father offered a yearlong paid vacation every seventh year and that was not enough.

The point in my mind is that even when the Father offers us good things, we do not always see them as enough.   We all think we would love a year’s paid vacation.  I suppose that it takes faith to think that this would work.  Still, for the Father to offer that one-seventh of the curse could be revoked is a kind and good offer.  He offers us the freedom to follow him and I do not always see that as enough.  I must see that all that the Father does is his attempt to get things back to good.  Even that is not enough; but wait, there is more.

Wishing you joy in the journey,
