Greetings Dear Reader,
Sometimes I will end the day with thoughts that are
important to get out. Usually I just
write them and put them in my journal folder.
I have chosen that on occasion I will share them with you Dear Reader.
Recently I was sharing love of the song The Southern Cross by Crosby,
Stills, and Nash with my friend Cheyenne.
Little did I know that revisiting it would create an ear worm for me
that would navigate through some rough waters.
This happens to me. A
song gets stuck in my head and I am driven to play it over and over dissecting the
lyrics and looking for application to my situation. I have related that part of my madness is
that I hear a song in my head for almost every situation. For example during a stressful meeting yesterday
this song was replaced by The Eagles “Learn to be Still”. It helped me navigate the meeting well. The moment I walked out of the meeting I was
back on board that reach heading to the southern islands.
In order to process better I am going to walk through some
analysis. I hope you benefit from
it. It is rare that I dive so deeply publicly
but my heart will not walk away from this one.
If you wish to journey with me on this one I urge to really listen to
the song. I think we rarely truly listen
to songs. We hear them, sing them, and
dance to them but we rarely listen. Oh and Marsha, it was after Young left the
band. I may need your help along the way
Dear Reader.
The
Southern Cross – Crosby, Stills, and Nash
Got out of town on a boat
Goin' to Southern islands.
Sailing a reach
Before a following' sea.
She was making' for the trades
On the outside,
And the downhill run
To Papeete.
Sailing a reach
Before a following' sea.
She was making' for the trades
On the outside,
And the downhill run
To Papeete.
Avalon, New South Wales, Australia |
Off the wind on this heading
Lie the Marquesas.
We got eighty feet of the waterline.
Nicely making way.
In a noisy bar in Avalon
I tried to call you.
But on a midnight watch I realized
Why twice you ran away.
Think about how many times I have fallen
Spirits are using me larger voices callin'.
What heaven brought you and me Cannot be forgotten.
I have been around the world,
Lookin' for that woman, girl,
Who knows love can endure.
And you know it will.
And you know it will.
When you see the Southern Cross
For the first time
You understand now
Why you came this way
'Cause the truth you might be runnin' from
Is so small.
But it's as big as the promise
The promise of a comin' day.
But it's as big as the promise
The promise of a comin' day.
So I'm sailing for tomorrow
My dreams are a dyin'.
And my love is an anchor tied to you
Tied with a silver chain.
I have my ship
And all her flags are a flyin'
She is all that I have left
And music is her name.
Think about how many times I have fallen
Spirits are using me larger voices callin'.
What heaven brought you and me Cannot be forgotten.
I have been around the world,
Lookin' for that woman, girl,
Who knows love can endure.
And you know it will.
And you know it will.
So we cheated and we lied
And we tested
And we never failed to fail
It was the easiest thing to do.
You will survive being bested.
Somebody fine
Will come along
Make me forget about loving you.
And the Southern Cross.
Wishing you joy in the journey,
Aramis Thorn
Mat 13:52 So Jesus said to them, "That is why every writer
who has become a disciple of Christ’s rule of the universe is like a home
owner. He liberally hands out new and old things from his great treasure store.”
