Updating Jesus - Closing Thoughts

Greetings Dear Reader,

We do not need to update Jesus to fit our culture.  Those who follow Christ must be sure to communicate in a way that is clear to our culture.  We must neither water down truth nor use language that makes the Gospel hard to understand.

An honest reading of the Gospels shows us clearly what Jesus requires of us.  An honest look at our culture shows that we are not doing as much as we cold to follow faithfully.  The balance we must adopt is simple and difficult all at once.

We must hold high standards without judging those who do not meet them.  We must love unconditionally even those who hate us.  We must feed those who are hungry without placing expectations on them.  We must live an example every moment.

Jesus did not promise that following would be easy.  He did require us to give all to do it.  I must follow in faith.  I must always love and be kind.  I must hate evil and hate no human.  I must live and move in Christ.  I must follow with my whole heart the Jesus who is.
