Destroy Your Enemies ~ Step 4: Rules of Engagement

Greetings Dear Reader,

In a proper military, there are rules of engagement.  Rules of engagement are defined as “a directive issued by a military authority specifying the circumstances and limitations under which forces will engage in combat with the enemy.”  In relationships and business, we have rules of engagement as well.  Business is war without guns and relationships are filled with conflict needing to be managed.

4If we are going to destroy our enemies, we must do so under the rules of engagement put forth by our command structure.  If not, we are guilty of things both wrong and punishable.  When anger was a constant in my spirit, I used to say to people, “I never get even; I escalate.”  This is a violation of the command to turn the other cheek.

The entire idea of war has to have a hard deck of rules guiding the conflict or we do things even war does not allow.  It is a heinous dichotomy but we may only kill each other in certain ways.  If then we are going to destroy our enemies, we must look to the commands guiding our behavior.  They are simple.  Jesus commands us to:

Love the LORD with all your heart mind soul and strength.
Love your neighbor.
Love your enemy.
Consider it a blessing when insulted.
Consider it a blessing when persecuted or used.
Consider it a blessing to make peace.
Pray for those who take advantage of us.
Feed our enemy if he is hungry.
Care for our enemy if he is sick or injured.
Clothe our enemy if he is naked.
Forgive our enemies.
Let go of anger before sundown.

You see, Dear Reader, Jesus has given us very serious rules of engagement for the war against our enemies.  When we take on those who hate us, following these steps guarantees we are in line with the Father.  This is always winning even when it does not seem to be.

I  must subscribe to the rules of engagement if I have any hope of destroying my enemies.  My life must be in a constant state of engagement because we battle against our internal and external enemy always.  We must follow the rules so we are in the right mind, heart, and attitude with the Father.

Wishing you joy in the journey,
