Greetings Dear Reader,
We transact with authority constantly. Driving, work, and school all include interactions
with authority. We either embrace it or
reject it. Sometimes, we merely tolerate
it. We must interact with authority in
most aspects of our lives.
We may have a position of command and authority. It is likely that we use that position with
good intent. Authority is necessary for
many situations. The problem emerges
when we begin to believe that we are in control. Control of almost anything is an
illusion. There is always a tipping
point if authority is exercised without regard for the governed. This is true socially and politically.
The idea of the transactions of authority is not about
control. It is about leadership and we
seem to be losing that. It is because we
think that in these transactions, we have control. We control so very little. In truth, it may be that the only thing we
control is our thoughts and responses.
When we transact as an authority or with one, we forget that
control is only there by consent of the controlled. Whether it is government or work, there is no
real control over those who do not wish to be controlled. If one is willing to pay the price, one can resist
most forms of control. When we transact
in control, we should remain aware that it is an illusion.
The only exercise of control we need is that over our own
thinking. If we think in terms of love
and grace then we will not need to control anyone else. Control is necessary but never a need as it
relates to others in our lives. We must
act in love or we will try to control others.
We cannot transact in control without love and be good.
I realize that this is not as deep as one might wish. Then again, the simple acceptance of the fact
that we do not control, but rather, we respond becomes very freeing. Think about the things we believe we control
Dear Reader. We may need to loosen our
grip and remember that we follow by choice.
Wishing you joy in the journey,
