When thinking about physics (and I know that you always get
up this early to ponder physics), we encounter Ghost particles. Actually, we encounter them all the
time. They pass through us constantly. They do not interact with us that we know
of.
So, what are Ghost Particles? They are Neutrinos. “Neutrinos are a neutral subatomic particle
with a mass close to zero and half-integral spin, rarely reacting with normal
matter. Three kinds of neutrinos are known, associated with the electron, muon,
and tau particle.” Follow this LINK
to read more about them and their importance in the universe.
The thing about Neutrinos is that they are always
alone. They do not bond with
anything. In an episode of the show
Young Sheldon, the main character states that he feels he like "a
neutrino, destined to be alone forever."
I feel this way at times. Lasting
relationships are difficult for me.
We all feel alone at times.
There are some, however, who are always alone and have difficulty
bonding with others. They may be
introverts, unpleasant people, or just dislike other humans. I have a friend, Mark (not his real name),
who calls me his closest friend. He says
this because he does not think I am human.
Mark dislikes humans. He will not
tell me what he thinks I am but I am honored to be his friend.
Mark lives in a world where he is alone most of the
time. His job and life are much like a
neutrino. He does his job well enough
that those with whom he works leave him alone to do it. He works remotely and lives remotely as well. Mark was once asked to come to a meeting in
a large city. He wrote a resignation
letter giving his supervisor the choice of allowing the meeting to be virtual
or finding someone else to do the work.
The meeting was held remotely.
What is the point of all this physics and social
anxiety? It is simple. We do not do our best alone. Even Mark needs a friend no matter how he
needs to reassign the nature of that friend to justify it in his mind. The truth is that we are never alone. We do not exist anywhere ever where God is
not there wanting us to see his love for us.
He passes through us constantly, wanting us to interact with
him. He refuses, however, to force
us. He refuses to make us bond with
him. He does go to extremes to get us to
notice him. My friend Mark is a particle
physicist. He and I bonded over the end
of The Big Bang Theory this
week. We then discussed the homage paid
by Young Sheldon to the show. He does not like children because in his
words, “they are germy and sticky.” He
and Sheldon Cooper would be great friends.
As we journey at the speed of time through the years, we are
constantly bombarded by the love of the Father, asking that we notice him and
bond with him. We can choose to ignore
him, but the result is that he honors our request. If we constantly choose to not interact with
him, he may choose to leave us that way Dear Reader. That sounds like the deepest loneliness I can
imagine.
Wishing you joy in the journey,
