A Prismatic View ~ The Dark Refraction

Greetings Dear Reader,

When we fracture light, we see the beautiful colours that make up our rainbow.  That is a stunning thing.  When looking at that refracted light, one can barely perceive thin lines of darkness that also exist.  When one tries to describe darkness, it is difficult to describe it without talking about light.

Still, there was darkness before there was light.  When the light was formed in the darkness it was formed whole and complete.  It was spoken into being.  It will always be there.  The entirety of life is dependent upon light.  Then, there is still the darkness.  The place where the light does not reach is still there and it also has its own fractured form of life.

The darkness is where hatred, greed, malice, and anger are bred.  It is the place that gives us the malevolence that we use to harm and devalue others.  In the quest for peace, we must always fight the dark refractions within our hearts and within the world. We are meant to be light in the encroaching darkness.  We are obligated to love even those who embrace and spread darkness.

In a world where injustice is allowed to live the darkness grows.  The dark fracture in our light grows.  Those who seek to live in light are challenged simply because they live in that light.  Our purpose is opposed simply because we have failed to live it well.  We fracture the light for our own purposes.  We fail to dispel the darkness and it becomes larger.

I realize that you get the metaphor, Dear Reader.  What I must do urgently is purge the darkness in my life so that I can better reflect the light of Christ.  We are to be lighthouses of hope in the stormy darkness and we cannot do it unless we allow the light within us to be whole.  As long as people with hatred in their hearts set the agenda, we will always have war; we will always have darkness.  Eventually, we will become blind to the truth altogether.

Wishing you joy in the journey,
