Greetings Dear Reader,
It seems that we
have forgotten how to work for peace, peacefully. I am surprised how quickly those who are to
turn the other cheek instead work to justify their violence. Whether it is speech or action, we speak of hatred
and killing.
I have heard both
sides of the salient issues talk of violence toward the other. I hear those who are supposed to be setting the
example of love and kindness make demeaning jokes about those who need that
love to overcome their anger and hurt.
There can be no peace when Christ-followers fail to love and Jesus loves.
It really does not
matter what our opposition does. We are
supposed to respond with love and kindness. We are required to always draw a
circle to take in others. We are to work
for peace through caring for others no matter what their affiliation. The journey home is difficult enough without
making things harder. The quest for
peace must be couched in my determination to respond to everything with love,
grace, and peace.
As we journey on to
the next thing, Dear Reader, I hope to do so with an eye toward the peaceful solution
to everything. For those who hate, for
any reason. I offer you an ear, some understanding,
and love that does not require you to give up anything to be loved. For me, the path of peace is refusing to be
offended for the sake of my pride and position.
It is making sure that I set love for others as my primary focus. The journey home will end in peace. Perhaps we can work at it now to make the transition
easier.
Wishing you joy in
the journey,
