Gathering Gratitude ~ Thanksgiving Meditation 2020

Happy Thanksgiving Dear Reader,

It seems we rarely understand the good we have,
Until we are sitting, suffering in the ashes
Of what was ours that we failed to appreciate.
Then fate, trying to get attention, out-lashes.

Too often, we mourn the loss of what was not ours,
But was loaned to us to teach us pure gratitude
For the goodness of grace and mercy rained upon
Our lives to form a humble, thankful attitude.

With less to have and to hold we perhaps will learn
That even in loss there is much for which we can
Give thanks to a Father who through loving-kindness
Honors and redeems humble hearts through his Son, the man.

Then Jesus, who lifts us from the ashes of our great loss,
Invites us to join him at the manger and humble cross.

Wishing you joy in the journey,
