Greetings Dear Reader,
The kingdom of Middle Earth was broken. Even among the good people of the world, there was enmity and strife. The Elves, Dwarves, and Humans were at odds and it took great tragedies for them to work together. We can see as the books unfold that even within each of their kingdoms there is division and dispute.
The return of the king to his kingdom offers a chance at peace. It is what we should all desire. After the failures of all three races, however, the world is broken. The third age ends but the strife in the world does not.In case we forget, we live in a broken world. Our failure turned it from a life-based world into a death-based one. We were never meant for division, destruction, and death. This world is supposed to be the outflowing result of a Kingdom that belongs to Christ. We are the ones who broke it and continue to break it.
It is what will come. It is quietly growing every time we choose to love over hate. Its roots are nourished each time we love the Father with all that we are. Whenever we heed the words of Jesus that tell us how to live, we create a bit of the Kingdom there, in that moment.
It will take the actual return of the King for the Kingdom to be complete. We can build hope and life that calls others to it if we love with all we are, refuse foolish offenses, and seek peace. We recognize our own spiritual poverty because of the broken Kingdom and that is how we begin to rebuild it. It is a blessing promised by Jesus; “Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of God. That, Dear Reader, is where we find a place to live. That is the herald we need to keep loving and being.
The Kingdom – Michael Card
So near and yet still so far, far away
So close, and yet still to come
Concealed, the seed is mysteriously growing
In hearts that will listen and hear
A treasure that's hidden, a pearl of great price
A fortune for fools who believe
A kingdom of beauty, a kingdom of love
A kingdom of justice and peace
A kingdom that holds all the wiles of creation
A kingdom where children will lead
For now, this kingdom's a land of the lowly
A place for the tired plundered poor
Now our gentle King comes in peace on a donkey
But then on a charger for war
A battle in heaven, a war on the earth
To shatter the long darkened siege
A kingdom of beauty, a kingdom of love
A kingdom of justice and peace
A kingdom that holds all the wiles of creation
A kingdom where children will lead
Not by our own strength
And not by power of might
But by His Spirit, it comes
Blinded eyes will see
And deafened ears will hear
The praise from the lips of the dumb
A kingdom of beauty, a kingdom of love
A kingdom of justice and peace
A kingdom that holds all the wiles of creation
A kingdom where children will lead
A kingdom where children will lead
Wishing you joy in the journey,
