A Fruit Inventory ~ Semper Fidelis

Greetings Dear Reader,

If you know a US Marine you know the title means always faithful.  I must say, the Marines with which I am friends help me understand this idea.  I do believe faithfulness is something fading in our common culture.

For me, it is to be steadfast or to stand firm in what I believe.  I admit faith comes easy for me.  Once I have worked out what I believe, I can hang on to it easily.  Being faithful to what I believe, however, can be a struggle.  If I do not keep vigilant over what I think and do, I can easily slip into things not in line with what I believe.

I can hear my Grandfather lovingly answering this with, “You do what you believe.  Everything else is just talk.”  He is correct.  How can anyone see what I believe if I fail to produce the fruit of faithfulness?  What I believe can only be seen in what I do.

So much of being loving, kind, and gracious is involved in being steadfast in my faith.  Being unfaithful to following Christ is an act of unbelief.  When I fail to follow faithfully, I am showing the places where I do not truly believe.  I suppose this is another reason Jesus wishes for us to live in the moment.

I must be faithful to Christ regarding what is put in front of me each instant.  When I get too far ahead, I put my own reason and doubt into the mix.  The fruitful life is composed of a harmony of obedience from note to note.  It is not the whole we see.  It is the now.

Existing faithfully in the now seems so unreachable, Dear Reader.  It is, however, where I must learn to live if I am to be faithful.  Being faithful to following Christ in the moment, every moment yields a life always faithful.  It is in this I can show the love of the Father and perhaps help others to be always faithful as well.

Wishing you joy in the journey,
