Happy Christmas Dear Reader,
As I see the days
slip through the glass, we arrive at the second Sunday of Advent. Since it is also December 6th,
Saint Nicholas Day, I wish to harmonize the two a bit. We need to understand that the two of these
running together make for a sweet consideration concerning Advent.
When we light the second candle, we focus on faith. We recall that we believe in what has happened and what is to come. We also have faith in the life we live in between the two advents. As I look back at the life of Saint Nicholas, I see an example of generous faith. I see a man that believed that gifts could draw others to the gift of Christ.
As we close out this second Sunday of Advent, perhaps we can think about how we can invest more faith in our giving and in our care for others. We can look for needs. We will see them if we do so. We can be generous to others by having faith that the Father provides for all our needs.
Once we begin to
give from the heart in faith, we find that giving yields great joy. We discover that we find easier and better
ways to give. I am beginning to
understand why the Father values a cheerful giver. As we draw closer to Christmas, I plan to not
hesitate in giving as the Spirit directs.
There is always someone who has a need greater than mine. Joy comes in meeting those needs, Dear Reader.
Wishing you joy in
the journey,
