Simple Gratitude ~ Motion

Greetings Dear Reader,

Most mornings now, my first movement is to coax the stiffness out of my frame and rise from my repose.  Once the stiffness is abated movement is quite easy.  The problem is that I forget how it is not always that way for others.

In that moment of difficulty at the start of each day, I am trying to develop deeper gratitude for motion and the need for it.  Physical motion, however, is not enough.  We must move mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.  The motion forward in all of these must be constant.  Each day holds opportunities to find a closer walk with Christ in every area of our being.

Consider this; the greatest commandment is to love the Father with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength.  It is to be this way in every moment.  This is why I have chosen this as a theme all year long and why I am trying to learn the art of constant love of the Father.  I want every moment of life to be moving toward a deep love for him and all that he loves.

This is seeking the kingdom of God and his righteousness.  This is becoming a living sacrifice fit for his service.  Everything else that is, is built on this one thing.  Motion is moving forward in each of these daily, in an attempt to follow Christ.  It translates into one of my more measurable goals.  I will write about a part of that tonight.  What I am seeking to become is someone who is where I need to be in the right moment at every moment.

The idea that we can become people, who even when we are still are in constant motion seems odd.  What it takes is determining to believe that we can be what Jesus described to Nicodemus.  “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.  So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”  It is in this that we find the freedom to be available to wherever the Father directs us whenever he directs us there.  This is the constant motion that we need.  The value is that people will say to you, “God is amazing and he puts people right where they need to be when they need to be there! You were right where you needed to be at the exact right time.”

That is why we are to be in constant motion in our heart, soul, mind, and body.  It is the way we love the Father in all things by being born of and bourn by the Spirit.  It is difficult.  It is not always painless.  It is, however, worth it Dear Reader.  For today, I will concentrate on being led by the heart of the Father in loving every human by being in constant motion in these things.  I am thankful that these things weave together into a life of following Christ in faith.  Following, after all, is motion.  So, Dear Reader, let us dare each other to move.

Dare You to Move – Switchfoot

Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone's here
Everyone's here
Everybody's watching you know
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next?
What happens next?

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened before

Welcome to the fallout
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
The tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be
Yeah

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened before

Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself
To lift yourself up off the floor

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened before

Wishing you joy in the journey,
